To submit in all categories, send the entire manuscript formatted as either a DOCX or PDF File to paperbillpress@gmail.com with the subject line AUTHOR: SUBMISSION [GENRE]. for more of what each of our editors is looking for, check out our wish lists as described in the masthead section of the site
Alongside your manuscript, please include a cover letter which includes a description of the work, title, word count, and a brief author bio. If there is a particular editor you hope to work with to bring your manuscript to print, please feel free to specify! But know that all submissions will be read and considered by the whole team. As well as in the body of the email, please include these details within the submission file itself!
Please note that while it’s totally fine for a portion of the manuscript to have been published previously (say, two pages of poetry out of 20!) We are not interested in republishing work that has already been distributed in book form.
A note on payment: Every author will receive a portion of their print run as payment, and can order additional copies at 40% of the official price. All proceeds will go towards the cost of printing and maintenance while we work towards a sustainable long-term model to support the press and our authors. Thanks to our Kickstarter, authors will receive a token $20 CND honorarium!
A note on Intersectionality: Paper Bill Press is committed to showcasing the diversity of voices and artists across literatures in Canada. This is a safe space for queer artists, artists of colour, disabled writers, and refugee writers of all kinds. Paper Bill Press is not a safe space for nazis. Submissions containing hate speech and hateful rhetoric will be deleted without response.
A NOTE ON GENERATIVE AI: If you submit any work that involves generative AI to Paper Bill Press, you’d really be better off spending your time touching grass or going for a long walk in the woods. Absolutely no AI work will be accepted

Please keep in mind that for criticism, we are seeking work that examines or comment on contemporary literature and art being written and created in Canada. We are not a good home for criticism examining historical works.
